About Me
My name is Amy and I live in beautiful Fayetteville, Arkansas, with my husband and elementary-age twins. I am a former reporter and also worked in corporate communications for many years.
Growing up, our family vacations consisted of camping trips and driving through the Midwest to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I fondly remember catching sunfish, playing in creeks with my sister, campfires, zipping our green tent and the rustling sounds of moving around on the canvas floor, trying to get comfortable on the bumpy ground.
Now that I'm a grown up with my own family, I realize how hard it can be to get away for vacation. A few recent events, however, have also made me realize how important it is to make the time for vacations.
We attended an event at our town square several months ago and decided to eat at a nearby pizzeria. My 9-year-old twins loved it, and my New-Yorker husband liked showing them how to fold their slices like they do in New York City. "Mommy, I feel like we're in a whole different city!" one of my children said. We were only across town! But it made me realize that our children haven't been exposed to much. Granted, the pandemic stole a few years, but I was slightly embarrassed that one restaurant was such a new experience for my kids!
The other recent event that led me to appreciate travel -- and ultimately inspired me to become a travel agent -- was the death of my mother. She passed away at the dawn of 2022 at the age of 76. She was an introvert but always wanted to visit and learn about so many different places. She loved the snowy woods of Minnesota and lived there for several years. She also loved all things Canadian, Irish and Scottish. She never got to visit those places, but I'm determined to. I'm also determined to help others experience all the world has to offer instead of just wondering and reading about it.
I hope you'll let me help you discover new places or revisit familiar ones. I want to help people like I used to be -- well-intentioned parents who like the idea of vacation but are overwhelmed with the planning and decisions. Whether you've dreamed of traveling this country or visiting others, there's lots out there to see!
